No Annual Fine Art Show in 2020
During the spring of this year, the Show Committee was still preparing for the Annual Fine Arts Show, scheduled for the weekend of October 23. Surely, we thought, the pandemic will have subsided by then! We were wrong. In June, the Board met and regretfully made the decision to cancel the Art Show for 2020. However, we took immediate steps to secure our Opera Hall venue for 2021. Go here to read more, from MLAA President John Sharum.
Business is Great at the New Aloft Gallery
Despite the ongoing pandemic and the current very active fire season, which has blanketed Tuolumne County in smoke, Aloft Gallery has been doing very well in its new location at 105 Washington Street in downtown Sonora. We have a wonderful collection of work by new artist members as well as old friends. People who had to cancel vacation plans for 2020 are buying art! The site itself, in the historic Baers Building, is worth a visit. Go here for Aloft information or visit the Gallery website at www.aloftartgallery.com
The Aloft Gallery reserves space for MLAA members to show their art free of charge. The space is reserved for members who are not also members of Aloft. Interested? Go here to our "contact us" page to get in touch with Susan Kendall. Don't miss this opportunity!
The Mother Lode Art Association is a nonprofit organization founded in 1951 to promote the arts and the appreciation of the arts in our community.
Meetings are held at 1:00 pm on the third Monday of each month except July, August and December, in the Community Room of the Tuolumne County Public Library at 480 Greenley Road, Sonora. Meetings are announced in the Union Democrat Weekender. Our free artist demos are held after each meeting. Members receive an electronic newsletter six times a year and have access to several venues where we can hang our work free of charge.

PLEIN AIR PAINTING
In this time of pandemic we urge members to follow all applicable precautions regarding group activities. But we encourage people to get outside and make art! Go here for more information on our plein air activities.
