About the MLAA
The Mother Lode Art Association is a nonprofit organization founded in 1951 to promote the arts and appreciation of the arts in our community. Meetings are held at 1:00 pm on the third Monday of each month except July, August and December. in the Community Room in the Main Library at 480 Greenley Road, Sonora, CA 95370. We sponsor a Juried Art Show each year and our Plein Air Group meets weekly, weather permitting. In 2008, the MLAA founded the Aloft Art Gallery to provide members with a venue to show their work. The Gallery, located at 105 S. Washington Street in downtown Sonora, is member-run.

Vote for 2023 Officers at the November Meeting
The Nominating committee of Marilyn Zinner, Jaimie Showers and Linda Happel have proposed the following slate of officers for 2023:
President: John Sharum
Vice President: Monika Stattner
Treasurer/Membership: Kate Crist
Secretary: Jean Dakota
We will entertain other nominations at the upcomingGeneral Meeting at 1:00 PM on November 21, 2022. The majority of the members present at the meeting will then vote to accept the proposed slate of officers, as modified at the meeting. The successful officers will be installed at the General Meeting in January.
Event Planner-Intern Volunteer Position Available
Mother Lode Art Association of Sonora, CA is looking for a Junior Co-Chair to assist in the set-up and running of the annual MLAA 68th Juried Art Show in 2023. The MLAA is a non-profit, all volunteer organization of artists whose goal is to support an appreciation of the fine arts in the community.
The 2022 annual art show exhibited over 300 pieces of painting and sculpture from local artists.
Qualifications would include a current field of study related to art and/ or a desire to get involved in the art world. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE. Click on the link below to download an application!
"Winter Blues" in the Library
The Main Library at 480 Greenley, in Sonora, is one of the venues where MLAA members who are not members of the Aloft Gallery can show their art free of charge. Our current show, with the theme "Winter Blues", is a knockout! It will hang through January, 2023.
