MLAA 67th Juried Art Show, 2021
Mother Lode Art Association Student Art Show
September 21, 2021: The Concurrent Art Show, Student Show and Photography Show have been postponed due to new Covid restrictions on the use of the Sonora Opera Hall.
New dates: April 8 to 10, 2022

Last week the Show Committee learned that the City of Sonora, in response to the latest Covid surge, has established State-mandated restrictions on City facilities, such as the Opera Hall, that are available to be rented by the public. These limitations would require us to cancel our traditional opening night reception. We rely on the reception to bring in a large share of the money we earn from the Art Show. We were informed that additional restrictions might be imposed as needed, including possible closure of the Opera Hall. The Board met on September 20 and decided, with regret, that the best course of action was to postpone the Show until the weekend of April 8-10, 2022. The Opera Hall is available for that weekend. Our outlays to date have been relatively small and the Committee's work can be carried over to the new date.
There is one big advantage to the new date. Saturday, April 9, is a "Second Saturday" which should bring extra traffic to our Show as visitors and residents explore the arts and music events nearby on Washington Street.
We're looking forward to bringing a first-class show to our community! Proceeds from entry fees, art sales and our raffle go to support art education in area schools. Our annual Show is our main fundraiser.
Check out this page for updated information as it becomes available. If you have already sent a check with your entry form, the Show Committee will contact you to determine how to handle it.
We still need volunteers for every stage of the show preparations and to staff the show!
